(Australia-NewsWire.Com, June 21, 2016 ) Sydney, Australia -- AirbornBaby pediatrician and resident consultant, Dr. Erik S. Mortensen often notice a lot of his patients and their parents having a difficult time during visits. Some first time mothers might be struggling with their crying, wailing babies and toddlers throwing tantrums everywhere. Add that to a busy schedule and parents would definitely feel like they have more than enough on their plate.
Here, Mortensen offers a few tips for parents. "I've noticed that most clients who do not set their appointments ahead often end up being disappointed," said Dr. Mortensen. "What most of them fail to see is they can actually schedule their doctors' appointment mid-week. After that, they can ask for the time after lunch or in the morning."
As for vaccines, Dr. Mortensen advices patients to breastfeed their child while getting their vaccine shots. This would add comfort and would soothe the child even after they feel the prick of a needle on skin. Meanwhil, a numbing cream or cold spray would work on older children.
Another trick for breastfeeding mothers is to use nursing or feeding pillows. According to Dr. Mortensen, a lot of babies develop colic due to an incorrect latch and position when breastfeeding. Nursing pillows lessen the risks of developing digestive problems and may even promote better sleep. "Feeding pillows are excellent if you'e struggling to breastfeed your child," said Dr. Mortensen. "I always recommend it to new parents. They always seem to have something positive to say afterwards and their babies appear to be happier."
