(Australia-NewsWire.Com, December 27, 2014 ) North Adelaide, SA -- Recently, yoga was linked to a decrease in cardiovascular disease, and now, experts are linking yoga with other health benefits. A recent article in the Standard Examiner reiterates something that yoga enthusiasts have long believed: that yoga can be used to relieve pain and increase range of motion, in addition to having other benefits.
In a study published in the International Journal of Yoga, the 'Effect of yoga on the Myofascial Pain Syndrome of neck', the authors note 'The results of the present study suggested that the intervention of a planned yoga program led to significant improvement in the quality of health, strength, range of motion, and pressure threshold of the trigger points, and decreased the disability and pain for the physiotherapists who were diagnosed to have cervical myofascial pain syndrome.'
This is exciting news.
In another study in the same journal, "It was demonstrated that 4-week yoga therapy intervention caused a significant reduction in pain intensity, physically unhealthy days, mentally unhealthy days, and activity limitation days compared to the control group. The significant improvements by yoga subjects were maintained at the 6-month follow-up, indicating that the yoga intervention is associated with longer lasting reductions in pain outcomes and QOL than controlled intervention."
The Yoga Towel Experts spokesperson Jessica Lauren commented, "The right yoga workout paired with a few premium yoga accessories can really yield noticeable physical and emotional benefits, including reduced pain and increased function. For those suffering from pain, a supportive quality towel with grip is important to reduce further injury or exacerbation."
