(Australia-NewsWire.Com, September 04, 2012 ) Sydney, New South Wales -- Last week, many Australians were shocked when Great Wall Motor Company and Cherry Automobile Company recalled some 23,000 vehicles that were to be sold in Australia, for reportedly containing asbestos.
According to Shang Yugui, a spokesperson for the Great Wall Company, the company first became aware of the asbestos problem in April, at which time they stopped using the potentially dangerous parts.
"We need to reflect at Great Wall," said Yugui. "We became careless after our repeated checks showed that the asbestos parts won't cause harm to the human body."
For the owners of Nagoya Motors, located in Sylvania, this just highlights the need for car buyers to be more cautious than ever.
“We’ve seen a lot of information coming out in recent weeks about cars and their safety,” said the owner of the used car dealership, offering used car models including the Nissan Skyline in Sydney.
“We saw reports of new luxury vehicles that weren’t receiving high scores in crash and safety tests, and then this massive recall of new vehicles in Australia just means car buyers need to do their research and be informed before making a purchase.”
Nagoya Motors doesn’t sell the Chinese model vehicles, and instead sells used cars, including the best selection of the Nissan and Mitsubishi vehicles, but they still understand the need for safety when it comes to selecting a vehicle.
“We know that our customers are more cautious than ever, and we’ve seen a lot of them shy away from the new cars, because they’re just not appearing to be as safe as the tried and true used models,” said the Nagoya owner. “This doesn’t mean that we’re any less vigilant with our safety when it comes to the sale of our cars.”
Nagoya Motors offers customers MTA Pre-Purchase Car Inspections, to ensure the vehicle they’re getting is safe and meets all standards. MTA Pre Purchase Car Inspections is a mobile service that performs comprehensive professional unbiased inspections before a used car is purchased.
“Today's vehicles contain complex mechanical, electrical, and frame systems,” said the owner of Nagoya. “Only a highly trained professional can accurately determine existing and potential problems. If not discovered, these problems can cost the buyer hundreds, even thousands, of dollars to repair after the vehicle is purchased, and we don’t want the buyer to have to worry about these types of problems. We also want our customers to feel 100% safe, especially in the wake of all that’s happening in the Australian car market.”
